Ahnesti Haircare Authoriti Whipped Paste

Ahnesti Haircare Authoriti Whipped Paste

By Mariana C.

As a 36-year-old latino woman with long curly hair, I’m always on the hunt for new styling creams to try (specially if the product has been reviewed and recommended by TIA). So I was excited to test the Ahnesti Authoriti Whipped Paste ($24 in the shop).

Before purchasing a product, I look through the ingredient list to make sure it’s free of harmful chemicals and contains all natural ingredients, then I confirm that they are all classified as “Low Hazard” by the Environmental Working Group. While doing a review of the Ahnesti Authoriti Whipped Paste, I found that most of its ingredients, like plant extracts and natural butters, are classified as “Low Hazard.” However, I found a couple of ingredients classified as “Moderate Hazard,” including potassium sorbate and SD alcohol 40-A. Although they are moderately harmful, according to the EWG, I would prefer that these two ingredients were not part of this product.

I was expecting the product to have more of a creamy consistency, but instead, it was like putting pure butter on my hair. Following the application instructions, I applied to wet hair — as I always do with any styling cream — and gave shape to my curls using my fingers. The result was awful! My hair looked dull and dirty once dry, as if I hadn’t showered for a month. I expect styling products to have the opposite effect, making hair look shiny and polished.

I only used the Ahnesti Authoriti Whipped Paste that once, but it was enough for me to decide that I didn’t like it at all. Maybe it would work for other hair types, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

How the Total Glo Super Cleanse Works

The main point of this product seems to be trying to help you lose weight. To understand how this product works with weight loss, you should first have a basic understanding about how you accumulate fat in the first place.

When you eat, your body automatically transitions the calories you ingest in to glucose, which is sugar. When you eat too many calories, your blood sugar rises, which causes your body to start the fattening process.

The reason that Total Glo is effective is because it helps to cleanse your body of the built up toxins that cause you to gain fat in the first place. This cleanse helps your digestive system to function more easily, which boosts your metabolism and burns fat at a higher rate.

All of the ingredients in the supplement are natural, making it safe and resistant to negative side effects. However, the website doesn’t give any information on exactly what these ingredients are. You will most likely have to find this information on the bottle when you receive it.

Using the Total Glo Super Cleanse

The Total Glo Super Cleanse is designed as an oral supplement that you need to take around meal times. You will take two doses during the day. The first dose, which is one soft capsule, should be taken before the first meal that you have in your day. The last dose, which is also one soft capsule, needs to be taken before you eat dinner.

There is no indication of how long you need to take the supplement before it has reached the desired results. Speak with a medical professional if you have any concerns about use, or ask a customer service representative.

Pricing for the Total Glo Super Cleanse

When you initiate an order of the Total Glo Super Cleanse, you do not immediately have to pay the full cost of the 30-day supply of the supplement. Instead, you are entered into a 15-day trial offer, during which time you will be responsible for the $6.95 shipping fees alone. Monsanto’s Roundup Weedkiller Glyphosate Herbicide Linked To Causing Cancer Lawsuit

One of America’s Most Popular Weed Killers May Cause Cancer

One of the country’s most popular weed killers is the subject of lawsuits from all across America after it was labeled as a carcinogen (cancer-causing compound) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

That Agency classified glyphosate, the main ingredient in weed killer Roundup, as a compound that is “probably carcinogenic to humans”.

Roundup is made by controversial agricultural giant Monsanto.

Lawsuits against Monsanto are making their way through courts across the country. The story is making headlines after CBS News told the story of one mother of three named Yolanda Mendoza who “lives every day like it’s her last”.

Mendoza was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma three years ago. Today, she’s healthy and fully recovered. But back then, she thought she only had a few days to live:

“I had only like a few days”, Mendoza said in a statement to CBS News.

Mendoza underwent a five month battle against the disease, during which her children were only allowed one visit per week.

Her cancer is now in remission after intense chemotherapy. But Mendoza’s battle isn’t over yet: she is suing the makers of the popular weed killer that made her sick.

Mendoza claims she used Roundup once a week on her one-acre property:

“I would strap it on and I would walk around spraying,” Mendoza explained.

Mendoza’s lawsuit alleges that the carcinogenic compound in Roundup caused her cancer.

The law firm representing Mendoza also has 30 other clients suing or preparing to sue Monsanto. Monsanto originally discovered the active ingredient in Roundup, glyphosate.

The clients suing Monsanto come from diverse backgrounds, but they all used Roundup on a regular basis. Some used Roundup while doing landscaping work, for example, while others are migrant laborers or farmers.

The other thing that all these clients have in common is that they all have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer Labels Glyphosate as “Probably Carcinogenic”

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is a division of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a 2015 report, IARC labeled glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic” after it was found to cause cancer in lab tests on animals. Upon closer inspection, researchers observed that the chemical damaged DNA in human cells.

Monsanto Claims Glyphosate is Perfectly Safe

Monsanto isn’t prepared to admit guilt anytime soon: CBS News talked to Dr. Donna Farmer, a researcher who studied the chemical at Monsanto for more than 20 years. She strongly disagrees with the IARC report:

“I can tell you glyphosate is safe. The data that they look at, they cherry pick it and then they interpret the studies completely different than research who actually did it,” Farmer said in a statement to CBS News.

The problem with the IARC report, Farmer explains, is that it contradicts long-term studies done by both Monsanto and independent researchers. None of those studies linked glyphosate to cancer.

Farmer went on to explain that glyphosate works by targeting a specific enzyme in plants that isn’t found in humans or animals.

Farmer is so confident in the safety of glyphosate that she claims there’s no need for masks or gloves while using the weed killer. Farmer also cited a report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that shows glyphosate “does not pose a cancer risk to humans.”

EPA Measures Risk While IARC Focuses on Hazard Identification

The reason the EPA and IARC have conflicting reports about the safety of glyphosate comes down to their approach to research.

IARC focuses on hazard identification while the EPA focuses on risk. Identifying risk is a more involved process: to demonstrate risk, the EPA needs to see evidence that glyphosate not only causes cancer, but that it’s likely to cause cancer under specific conditions.

The EPA is actively preparing a report on glyphosate – something it does with every chemical every 15 years to ensure safety. They claim the report will be complete by the end of this year – and they’re taking the IARC carcinogen report into consideration.

Stay tuned for more news about the Monsanto weed killer lawsuit and other information as we move forward.

Weight Destroyer Review – Strategic Fat Annihilation At Last?

Are you ready for a weight-loss regimen that debunks many familiar methods, and helps to change your diet for maximum success? This is our review.

Weight Destroyer Review

What is the Weight Destroyer?

Finding a weight loss regimen that actually works is a not an easy task. Fad diets are ever popular in the health industry, with every book and celebrity claiming they have found the secrets to dropping away the pounds. These methods claim to help you lose weight, but they may be doing more harm than good. However, it seems that the author of the Weight Destroyer program has the solution you need.

The author of this program starts off his advertisement for the program by describing the poor state his body and his health were in, with doctors giving him mere months to live. However, when he consulted with a family member, he found the key to dropping weight quickly to save his life. Within six weeks, he claims to have dropped 53lbs.

With no drugs or surgery involved, he crafted this e-book from a 15-page handwritten plan to help others who may be struggling to lose weight and have no options left. According to his claims, this program is designed for any person, and doesn’t require you to have a particular skill set to achieve these goals. In fact, you can also reverse the effects that aging has had on your body by renewing the way that you approach your daily eating.

How the Weight Destroyer Works

While there is not much information about the way the program actually works, you will find that most of the book and program describe the ways that classic weight-loss remedies won’t work for you. This program encourages changes in your diet, but states that there are certain changes that do not make a difference. Drinking a certain amount of water and meeting calorie requirements seem to be two methods that are under attack.

The author of this program states that the Weight Destroyer program is a “drug-free prescription,” which is meant to remedy your excessive weight.

Starting the Weight Destroyer Plan

When you originally get the program, it may be overwhelming trying to apply all of the rules at once. Most diets fail from exactly that result, but the Weight Destroyer program has a solution.

Their program details a 30-Day Kick Start into the program, which means that they give you all of the instructions you need to stick with this program for the first month. After you see the major changes made to your body and health in those 30 days, it will become much easier to stick with the program for continued results.

While there is not much information about this program on the website, you may want to speak with a physician to determine if this program is safe enough for your body. When you gain access to the e-book offered, make an appointment with a medical professional to discuss other changes you may need to make.

Pricing for the Weight Destroyer

The Weight Destroyer program is offered in the form of a digital e-book, which is priced at $67.00. By offering this product as an online resource, you can read the book almost anywhere that you can access the internet. That easy access allows you to keep all of the resources and information with you at all times, which helps you to stick with the program long-term.

If you are unsatisfied with your results, the company offers a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee. This guarantee gives you the security of knowing that your money won’t be wasted, even if you don’t meet your weight loss goals through the program. However, the author of the program seems to be confident in the fact that it will impact your life in a positive way.

Contacting the Makers of the Weight Destroyer

Since the website doesn’t not offer extensive information on the Weight Destroyer program, you may feel more comfortable making a purchase after speaking with a customer service representative. Unfortunately, the only way you can reach a customer service agent is by submitting a question with their online form.

All inquiries sent to their online form will receive a response within 24 hours. In the meantime, check out the troubleshooting section of the website to determine if you can solve the problem on your own.

Conclusion

The best part about the Weight Destroyer seems to be that anyone can use the program. So few weight loss regimens are easy for any person, but the author of this guide states that anyone can reach their goals with a few changes. The cost of the program is much less expensive than seeking out professional help, and is much easier to handle than getting a medical procedure to drop the weight. Either way, you are protected by the 60-day guarantee for a full refund if you are unsatisfied.

Cyclical Ketogenic Diet Review – Surprising Facts You Need To Know?

A cyclical ketogenic diet is an eating plan that involves cycling the amount of carbs you eat on different days, helping to maximize your weight loss. This is our review.

What is a Ketogenic Diet?

ketogenic dietFinding the right weight loss plan for your body can be a constant journey of trying to figure out what works. Some people flourish on a low-fat diet, others get the results they want from a calorie-restricted diet. However, all of these diets lack one thing – variety. If you frequently plateau, you might want more information about a ketogenic diet.

A ketogenic diet is characterized by foods that are low in carbohydrates, but high in fat. There are multiple scientific studies from different researchers that show the way that this type of diet improves your overall health, while motivating weight loss. In fact, consumers that use this type of diet are known to have a better defense against diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s disease.

This type of diet is often compared to high-profile, trendy diets like Atkins. This type of diet dramatically minimizes the amount of carbohydrates you eat, regardless of if they are good or bad for you. Instead of eating carbs, you are encouraged to enjoy high amounts of fat. According to the supporting science, this change helps to push your body into ketosis, a metabolic state that burns fat into energy for your body and brain.

However, there are multiple types of ketogenic diets. For this review, you will be learning more about a cyclical ketogenic diet.

What is a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet?

keto dietA cyclical ketogenic diet is a variation of the original ketogenic diet. While the ketogenic diet focuses on minimizing the carbohydrates you take in entirely, the cyclical ketogenic diet offers a little more leniency and variety. During this diet, you will have short periods of time when you will eat a high amount of carbs, which is then followed by a longer period of time without carbohydrates. For instance, a standard diet would consist of two days that you are encouraged to eat more carbohydrates, and five days that you stick with the original ketogenic plan.

How A Cyclical Ketogenic Diet Works

The reason that this method is so effective is in the way your body is constantly having to “guess” how much energy it will receive to burn during the day. On the days that you eat low amounts of carbohydrates, your body learns to seek out energy and nutrients from the fatty foods you choose.

However, as soon as your body gets used to the level that your metabolism works, then you change your pace to make it have to work harder during high-carb days. When you transition back to the high-fat days, your body takes time to adjust to the difference and burns more.

Why Choose a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet?

Much of the reason that you should pursue this type of diet is due to the high amount of physical and nutritional benefits it offers for multiple body systems. In addition to helping to lose weight, this diet can make a difference in the following ailments and conditions:

  • Heart disease, by reducing body fat, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels
  • Cancer, by slowing tumor growth that is stimulated by sugar
  • Alzheimer’s disease, by slowing down the progression of the disease
  • Epilepsy, by minimizing the amount of seizures in children
  • Parkinson’s disease (no reason given)
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome, by reducing your insulin levels that play a role in this syndrome
  • Brain injuries, by helping during recovery after a brain injury (when studied in animals)
  • Acne, by limiting the amount of sugary or greasy foods that can affect your complexion

Potential Side Effects and How to Prevent Them

The best way to amplify your success and minimize the bad side effects is to speak with your physician or a medical professional before you begin any type of diet. If you have struggled with any of the above ailments in the past, your physician may already have you following particular instructions to control it. You should make sure to get medical approval before drastically altering the way you eat.

When you first begin any ketogenic diet, your body will endure a few changes as it adapts to the new way of eating. The most common effect is the “keto flu,” which present at increased hunger, problems sleeping, and an overall sluggish disposition. These symptoms are usually due to the decrease in the amount of carbohydrates in your body, since they are responsible for your energy levels usually.

You may be able to avoid this “flu” by adding a little extra salt to your meals or adding mineral supplements. You need to focus on becoming full during your meals, which means you won’t have to worry about calories. If you are having an especially hard time handling the diet, you can choose to ease into it, rather than immediately transitioning to the strict guidelines.

Supplements

One of the easiest ways to make the changes are by including supplements with your dietary changes. There are multiple vitamins and nutrients that can make the difference between feeling tired and hungry, rather than alert and satisfied. Try out some of these vitamins as you make the switch:

  • MCT oil, which can be added to drinks to boost energy and ketone levels
  • Minerals, which helps to even out your nutrients as your water intake changes
  • Caffeine, to help boost your energy and fat loss
  • Exogenous ketones, which help to increase your ketone levels
  • Creatine, which can help you stick with the diet if you are also engaging in exercise
  • Whey, to help maintain enough protein in your eating plan

Conclusion

There are many websites that offer information on this type of diet, and the balance of different foods is a great way to even out any issues you have with your metabolism. Once you begin using this diet, it will become much easier to come up with your own balanced recipes. We have had many comments on the forskolin benefits of cutting carbs, boosting metabolism and suppressing appetite that may be worth checking into.

As with any new diet, you should speak with a medical professional before making any major changes.

The Truth About Caffeine

The Truth About Caffeine

A Truth In Aging community member emailed with “disturbing information.” She had found research that concluded that caffeine inhibits collagen formation and was now faced with the ultimate dilemma – give up her morning cuppa vital kick starter or willfully contribute to her own aging. What to do?

The study was conducted in 2014 and it is quickly obvious that coffee is not this bunch of researchers cup of tea. They grudgingly admit that it has antioxidant properties, but go on to say that coffee kills off cells and therefore inhibits the wound healing process. Now I have heard claims that say just the opposite, but I’ll come back to those later.

The study claims to be “the first report about caffeine-induced inhibition of collagen synthesis in human skin fibroblasts.“ There is an enzyme called prolidase that plays a role in collagen synthesis and caffeine inhibits it, hence having an adverse effect on our collagen production. Adding some hyaluronic acid in the hopes it would counteract the effect of the caffeine did not prove helpful.

It should be noted that the experiment was dose dependent and conducted on cells in a petri dish, not actual humans. I am not sure I know how incubation of a cell for 24 hours in 5 mM of caffeine would translate to human coffee consumption. However, I did find two scientific sources for the consumption of coffee by the average American as 4mgs or 15mgs. According to one source, the average cup of coffee has just under 200 mM to be consumed by the whole body, but a single cell. So, my guess is that you’d have to drink an inhuman amount of coffee to replicate this study in real life.

This was the same for other studies. The doses of caffeine studied before they impaired wound healing or adversely affected collagen and bone density were over 300mgs. It would take an awful lot of double espressos to reach that equivalent.

Against all this, caffeine is used more and more in skincare. So it must be doing something right. Right? I thought it worth revisiting some research to make sure all of these anti-aging creams aren’t just clouds in my coffee.  One of the reasons that accounts for caffeine’s popularity in skincare is that it penetrates the skin barrier easily. Commercially available topical formulations of caffeine apparently contain around 3 percent caffeine.

There’s research that caffeine applied topically after UV exposure resulted in a significant decrease in UV-induced skin roughness and damage (although it should be noted that cosmetic firm, Shiseido, had a hand in this one). Topical caffeine might also have a sunscreen effect. A  few years ago, a Rutgers study showed that caffeine guards against certain skin cancers at the molecular level by inhibiting a protein enzyme in the skin known as ATR.

Caffeine is also structurally similar to uric acid, a known antioxidant that is present in our blood at relatively high concentrations. There are supposed to be 1,000 antioxidants in unprocessed coffee beans and hundreds more develop during the roasting process. According to Fox News, Americans eat so few vegetables and fruit that drinking coffee is often the primary source of antioxidants in a typical diet. Now, that factoid is an eye opener.

Caffeine shows up in anti-cellulite products because it prevents excessive accumulation of fat in cells. As an alkaloid, it stimulates the degradation of fats by inhibiting phosphodiesterase (a kind of enzyme). Studies tend to support this theory, but the effects on cellulite seem to be short-lived. It also increases microcirculation of blood in the skin and stimulates the growth of hair through inhibition of the 5-α-reductase activity.

So enjoy your joe while browsing these anti-aging products that come with a decent shot of caffeine.

Difinsa53 Skin Protectant Lotion

Difinsa53 Skin Protectant Lotion

by Angela T.

Difinsa53 Skin Protectant Lotion ($62.50 in the shop) is specifically formulated to help prevent and treat radiation dermatitis (aka the skin damage or burns caused by radiation). The brand’s website touts five key ingredients: dimethicone, silybin (silibinin), aloe barbadensis leaf juice (aloe vera), hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide.

Dimethicone offers several benefits: It provides a protective barrier that prevents water loss and can also function as an anti-inflammatory. Hyaluronic acid helps skin retain moisture while strengthening the skin barrier, and niacinamide is used to increase ceramides and fatty acid levels, which in turn helps prevent water loss. Topical application of niacinamide has also been known to help reduce blotchiness and hyperpigmentation and to even skin tone.

Aloe Vera has been used as a topical skin treatment for thousands of years and is often used to help heal burns. However, studies conflict as to its burn-healing efficacy; research is also conflicting regarding its treatment of radiation dermatitis. Lastly, silybin is a purified extract of milk thistle, which has been shown to be a helpful treatment for rosacea by reducing redness, papules, and itchiness. Milk thistle also blocks free radicals and protects against UVB damage.

With the exception of silybin, the ingredients in Difinsa53 are not uncommon in face lotions and did not initially compel me to use the product. When I originally searched silybin on the internet, I did not find a lot of information regarding topical use, so I was reluctant to use the product on my face. Thus, my initial testing of Difinsa53 was on my body. (A subsequent search using “milk thistle” as the search term yielded a bit more information.)

When used on my hands, Difinsa53 temporarily smoothed fine lines and provided long-lasting light hydration that would probably work fine for warmer months. But I did not find it to be moisturizing enough in the colder winter weather, and I didn’t see any significant changes in the youthfulness of my hands after testing.

During part of my testing period, I was going through an extremely busy time. With an overloaded schedule and the benefit of winter clothing, one of the low priorities on my list was shaving and moisturizing my legs. The drawback to skipping this part of my routine was that they began to itch. Difinsa53 provided immediate and long-lasting relief from the annoying itchiness.

Based on the testing above, my initial assessment of Difinsa53 was neutral. On the positive side, the non-greasy lotion absorbs quickly and provides long-term hydration. Plus, a little goes a long way. But given the price point, I wasn’t wowed enough. Just as I was about to start writing my product review, Marta posted her review of Difinsa53. Her feedback persuaded me to see Difinsa53 would help with the rosacea and redness on my cheeks.

After just a few days of use, my face started looking noticeably better. Then, I got the flu. As mentioned, my skin is already prone to redness, but it can be especially bad when I’m sick. My 30-something, very fair complexion does not hide illness well at all. Impressively, the Difinsa53 helped keep any blotchiness in check. After three days of fever and still not feeling 100%, I returned to work and my coworkers commented on how well I looked for being sick. In addition to minimizing redness, the lotion also healed my chafed nose quicker than my go-to Neosporin.

Based on my experience, I would recommend giving Difinsa53 a try if you have redness or rosacea. The reduction in redness that I have experienced over the past couple of weeks has allowed me to wear only my powder foundation (rather than a liquid foundation with powder over top). The thin, fast-absorbing consistency of the lotion makes it easy to layer with other products. Lastly, the 3-ounce size—as compared to the typical 1.7-ounce size of many other lotions and creams—will last quite a long time.
