Deciem NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1%

Deciem NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1%

By Patti C.

At 57 years old, my skin is in pretty good shape and I’m often mistaken for many years younger. However, I am starting to see age changes that I’m not thrilled about.  For starters, my complexion has changed from combination to dry in the last couple of years.  Some fine lines are starting to form around my mouth, my eleven lines are becoming more pronounced, and my jawline is losing definition. My dermatologist, who I see routinely for body checks, recently told me that all I need is a light moisturizer if I’m already using a concentrated serum. (She recommended Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream.)

I had high hopes when Truth In Aging assigned me Deciem NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1% ($60 in the shop) for testing. It contains many beneficial ingredients for healthy skin: Copper (at 5 percent in this serum) helps repair skin cells, improves collagen and elastin, and promotes the body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid. There is also sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, a polymer of HA that plumps up your skin, and myristoyl nonapeptide-3, a peptide that Marta says mimics retinol.

After washing my face and using toner, I applied five to six drops of the serum on my face and neck, paying close attention to the areas where I wanted to see change. A couple of times a week I would then layer on Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum ($29.99 in the shop), and I always finished by applying a pea-sized amount of Vanicream.

On the third day of testing, I began to notice small red blemishes on my face. I know this product claims to make your skin look younger, but at my age, breakouts were not the “youthful” result I had hoped for. I also own the Truth Vitality Lux Renew with LED and Ultrasound ($269 in the shop), which helped clear up the blemishes.

However, on a positive note, I could definitely see a reduction in the sagginess of the skin on my chin and jawline within the first week.  So I religiously applied the Copper Amino Isolate Serum morning and night for four weeks to give the product a fair chance. I didn’t see any drastic changes in the final three weeks, although I do think my skin became tighter overall by the end of testing.  People pay big bucks for this result, and I achieved it simply by using this serum.

Another nice surprise was a slight fading of the freckles and small areas of melasma on my cheeks.  I didn’t really notice until I compared the before and after photos I took of myself fresh out of the shower with nothing on my skin.  Nice bonus!

There was no improvement of the lines around my mouth or on my forehead, so another product may be the answer if this is your main concern. But I highly recommend Copper Amino Isolate Serum if you are hoping to tighten the skin and fade dark spots.  I will continue to use this product as part of my weekly routine. Being a collagen-booster, I can only assume the effects will continue improve.
