Organic Radiance Ultra Nourishing Anti-Aging Elixir

I was thrilled to test the reformulation of the Organic Radiance Ultra-Nourishing Anti-Aging Elixir ($65 in the shop), since my fifty-something skin responded so positively to the original formula. This creamy elixir is still organic and vegan-friendly, with only natural preservatives. The big difference is that it now contains an even more impressive list of antioxidants, vitamins, peptides, plant stem cells, amino acids, and oils.

Some of my favorite additions include youth-boosting niacinamide, cranberry seed oil, and camellia seed oil. My breakout-prone skin has responded well to niacinamide in the past, and it certainly reaped the benefits from this elixir. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is known to reduce inflammation and hyperpigmentation from sun spots and post-acne discoloration, as well as calm rosacea, reduce wrinkles, and protect against UV damage. The antioxidant-rich combo of cranberry seed oil and camellia seed oil further augments the moisturizing effect of the other oils and botanical hyaluronic acid. The list of ingredients is truly impressive and the benefits are all detailed on the Organic Radiance website, in addition to being easily found in the TIA Ingredient Index.

The rich cream melts beautifully into skin and only rarely did I feel the need to apply an additional moisturizer over top. Ever fearful of breakouts and mild rosacea flare-ups, I happily suffered no increase in blemishes, redness or inflammation while testing the Ultra Nourishing Anti-Aging Elixir. Overall, my skin tone, texture, and elasticity have gradually improved, but a stubborn upper lip crease has shown no improvement. I also can’t say for certain if my sunspots have faded — time will tell.

I’m very pleased that Organic Radiance addressed the two issues that detracted from my positive experience with the original formula: the color and scent. I was shocked to see that this elixir is still such a bright pumpkin color; however, it disappears right into the skin — no more yellow tint left on my fair complexion! While the scent is still not what I would call pleasant — a bit spicy-earthy-fruity — it is much more tolerable and dissipates very quickly. I have a sensitive nose and am unaware of the scent within a minute of application.

With all these improvements to the formula, I am, however, very disappointed with the packaging. The original formula came in a pump dispenser that allowed some control over the amount dispensed and became difficult to dispense only when there was little product remaining. This new formulation is still just as thick and creamy (maybe a bit more so), but is now in a plastic bottle with a top that toggles — much like many shampoo bottle tops. It’s very difficult to control because you have to give it a hard shake and then squeeze the firm plastic bottle to dispense just a bit. Thing is, there is often a little dry goober blocking the hole so it suddenly squirts out too much — aaargh! Also, the transparent lid looks gross with the pumpkin-colored goo visible when the cap is closed.

I’m so pleased with the improvements to this wonderful elixir and the effects it has on my mature skin. It’s at a reasonable price point and it takes just a little to smooth over your entire face. I definitely recommend this product — even having to wrestle with the bottle wouldn’t deter me from purchasing this potent anti-ager.
