January Labs Advanced Eye Technology

January Labs Advanced Eye Technology

By Aimee S.

The last 4 weeks was a well-timed trial of January Labs Advanced Eye Technology ($87) for me. I am 55 years old and twice daily tend to contact lenses. Needless to say, with age and contact lenses, my under eye skin shows wear and tear. The lightweight, creamy texture of this product is easy to apply and goes on smoothly. I applied it morning and night and used about 1/3 jar over the 4-week testing period.

January Labs makes a promising statement about their eye treatment — to help promote firmness and elasticity, diminish the appearance of puffiness, lines and wrinkles while increasing hydration and to also soothe and protect the delicate eye area. All of this is accomplished with natural ingredients. After using this treatment for 4 weeks my fine lines have softened and are less noticeable. It has also helped with puffiness and my under eye dark circles are less noticeable. And the crepeness is much better. So far, I am very happy with the results.

Since there are so many ingredients I felt it best to highlight those that seem to target different concerns with under eye skin. The ingredients are a long list with the first being water. The second is caprylic/capric triglycerides, derived from coconut oil and glycerin, which help with surface repair and moisture loss prevention. Three other great ingredients are hydrolyzed rice bran protein, oxido reductases (an enzyme) and glycine soja (soybean) protein — which January Labs refers to as Regu-age and has the following properties:

- Naturally derived from rice, yeast and soybeans
 - Reduces dark circles and puffiness around eyes
- Increases microcirculation and oxygen supply
- Strengthens tissue
- Reduces inflammation and helps prevent UV damage

The next two ingredients are derived from yeast, beta glucan and saccharomyces cerevisiae extract. They share antioxidant properties as well as being soothing and moisturizing. Hydrolyzed soybean fiber which is rich in amino acids, increases elasticity and also has smoothing benefits.

Dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylyaluamide diacetate (phew) is a neuro-peptide that causes the facial muscles to relax, helping wrinkles, January Labs states that this tri-peptide serves as a safe and painless alternative to anti-aging injections. Lastly, moisture retention is targeted with Aloe Leaf Juice (also helps with puffiness), Hyaluronic Acid and Allantoin (extract from the Comfrey plant which helps to moisturize and soften skin as well as improve skin texture.

This is a pricier eye cream but has some great ingredients and within 4 weeks started to work on my under eye area. I look forward to seeing even more skin improvement over the next few months.
