Sweetsation Genelysse Advanced Lifting and Firming Night Recovery Complex

Sweetsation Genelysse Advanced Lifting and Firming Night Recovery Complex

If your wishlist includes a night cream with retinol, some other heavy hitters such as Matrixyl 3000 and ceramide, surrounded by botanicals and all at a budget-friendly price then Sweetsation’s Genelysse Advanced Lifting and Firming Night Recovery Complex ($36) checks your boxes and then some.

I have been testing this night cream for the past month and it has all the hallmarks of a Sweetsation product: a long as your arm ingredient list, a mix of well-known actives and plant extracts, a strong scent and a formula that doesn’t pull its punches.

Although there are ton of actives (that I’ll come back to in a moment), this comes across to me as a retinol cream first and foremost. It is here at a 1.5% concentration and it’s exfoliating effects are evident. Augmented, I expect, by a hefty 15% dose of vitamin C. This night serum palpably evens out skin tone, but the price is that is a little drying. I would not recommend this serum for those with very parched skin. Those with normal to slightly dry skin may want to add a moisturizer to their night routine or a slightly richer one the usual the following morning.

As mentioned, there is the collagen boosting peptide complex, Matrixyl 3000, but the roll-call doesn’t stop there as also notable are the antioxidant, ubiquinone and ceramide 3 (which helps skin hydration). Resistem is the combination of callus stem cells from an alpine daisy and glycerin. It is supposed to protect our own skin stem cells, stimulate sirtuin-1, while reducing micro-inflammation and redness. The retinol and vitamin C get plenty of support on the brightening front from methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), bearberry and willow bark.

There are plenty of plant-based antioxidants such as green tea, resveratrol, sea buckthorn, raspberry and borage oils. Plus there’s nothing to dislike apart from a dab of the preservative phenoxyethanol.

Sweetsation has its devotees amongst the Truth In Aging community, for whom the Lumi*Essence body lotion practically has cult status. I predict that Genelysse will attract a similar following.
