Leptigen Review
Leptigen is a weight loss formula that promises to use scientifically-backed ingredients to help you achieve real weight loss. Here’s our Leptigen review.
What is Leptigen?
Leptigen, found at Leptigen.com, is a weight loss formula that claims to offer safe and effective weight loss. The secret behind Leptigen’s power? A range of natural ingredients backed by scientific evidence.
The main ingredient in Leptigen is called Meratrim. That ingredient is a registered trademark proprietary formula made out of a range of other ingredients. The two ingredients in Meratrim are sphaeranthus indicus and garcinia mangostana. The first is a flower extract used for centuries as a natural stress reliever, while the second is simply mangosteen fruit extract.
By combining Meratrim with ingredients like caffeine, the manufacturer of Leptigen claims to have made a powerful weight loss supplement that kickstarts your leptin levels to increase your body’s fat burning ability.
The supplement is sold at a price of $110 for a 30 day supply (60 capsules). That makes it relatively expensive compared to other weight loss formulas. So does Leptigen actually work as promised?
How Does Leptigen Work?
Leptigen’s manufacturer claims that the ingredients within the supplement act as thermogenic and lipolysis-inducing (fat burning) agents:
“By using Thermogenic and lipolysis-inducing agents, Leptigen™ provides an effective, safe way to assist your body in releasing stored fat and increasing metabolic rate in order to burn fat.”
The evidence for Leptigen mostly comes in the form of evidence for Meratrim (which is the main registered trademark formula inside Leptigen). The manufacturer lists several published clinical studies for Meratrim on its official website http://ift.tt/1L0BXVx
In one study, Meratrim was able to reduce hip and waist circumferences in 60 participants. In this study, Meratrim stated that:
“significantly reduced body weight by 4.5 pounds and waist and hip circumference by 1.6 inches and 1 inch, respectively, compared to a placebo.”
At the 8 week measurement point, participants had reduced their weight by 11.5 total pounds while also dropping waist circumference by 4.7 inches and hip circumference by 2.4 inches.
For that study, which was published in Obesity, the participants were told to walk 30 minutes for 5 days a week while following a standard 2,000 kcal/day diet.
This is the only major study mentioned by Leptigen’s manufacturer. It’s important to note that the study does not actually involve Leptigen: it just involves a formula within Leptigen.
There’s also one small problem with these studies: we don’t know the exact ingredient breakdown inside the Meratrim formula (it’s a proprietary blend of two different ingredients in undisclosed amounts). Fortunately, as we’ll learn in the next section, the manufacturer of Leptigen is upfront about its remaining ingredients.
Leptigen Ingredients
Leptigen’s ingredients can be found at the manufacturer’s FAQ page: Leptigen.com/faq/
This is what the ingredient chart looks like:
As mentioned above, the main ingredient in Leptigen is Meratrim, taking up approximately 400mg. the remaining ingredients are chromium, which plays an important role in your metabolism, caffeine, which boosts your energy, and green tea extract, which contains valuable antioxidants and health-boosting catechins.
Chromium is required by your body in very small amounts and does not have an established daily value. Your body uses small amounts of chromium to help insulin transport glucose into cells, where it can then be used for energy. Chromium is also connected (in ways we don’t totally understand) to the metabolism of carbs, fats, and protein. Ultimately, it’s an ingredient you’d want in a weight loss supplement.
The natural caffeine, on the other hand, is included in the supplement in a relatively small amount: it’s about the same amount as a small cup of coffee. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, then you’ll notice this energy boost. If you regularly drink coffee, then you’re unlikely to notice much of a boost.
How to Buy Leptigen
Leptigen is relatively expensive compared to other weight loss supplements. However, it does get a little bit cheaper when you buy multiple products at the same time.
Here’s how the prices break down when buying Leptigen at the official site:
— 1 Bottle (30 Day Supply with 60 Capsules): $109.95
— 2 Bottles (60 Day Supply with 120 Capsules): $199.90
— 3 Bottles (90 Day Supply with 180 Capsules): $269.85
All prices include shipping. You can pay for your order using PayPal, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover.
All purchases also come with a 120 day money back guarantee. The manufacturer claims you can return Leptigen “for any reason within 120 days for a full, no-hassle refund.”
How to Take Leptigen
The manufacturer recommends taking two Leptigen pills per day “at least 30 minutes before meals”.
The manufacturer doesn’t explain which meals you should take Leptigen with. However, if you’re sensitive to caffeine then you should avoid taking Leptigen in the evening with dinner (each dose contains 75mg of caffeine).
The manufacturer also recommends exercising regularly while taking Leptigen while also maintaining a healthy diet.
If you miss a Leptigen dose, then the manufacturer claims that you should absolutely not double up your dosage. Never take two Leptigen pills at once because “We can only predict safe results if you follow the instructions on the label.”
Who Makes Leptigen?
Leptigen is made by a company that calls itself Leptigen. That company lists the following Florida address:
4135 Laguna StreetCoral Gables, FL 33146
You can contact the company by phone at 1-800-555-3951 or by email at info@leptigen.com.
The manufacturer doesn’t disclose much more information about itself online. However, a quick Google Search reveals that the Coral Gables address listed above has been connected to some shady companies over the years. Poorly reviewed companies like Triton Web Properties and Bin27.com all list this address as their headquarters.
One reviewer on YellowPages.com said that Triton Web Properties (the owner of Bin27.com) sold her “fake facial products and damaged my skin”.
In any case, it’s weird that Leptigen’s manufacturer doesn’t disclose information about itself online. That seems to suggest it doesn’t want people to know more about its history, background, or manufacturing conditions.
There’s also no mention of where Leptigen is manufactured: is it manufactured in an FDA-certified facility in the United States? Or, since the supplement doesn’t mention that anywhere, it seems more likely that Leptigen is manufactured overseas in an undisclosed country.
Conclusion: Who Should Use Leptigen?
Leptigen appears to have its heart in the right place with its diet pill. However, its main ingredient (the proprietary formula called Merastim) is backed by only one small study and the rest of the ingredients are basically just caffeine and one mineral. When you also account for the $110 price tag for each 60 capsule bottle, it becomes harder to justify purchasing Leptigen today.
