Sirtfood Diet Review
The Sirtfood Diet is a diet that sounds too good to be true: can you really lose weight by drinking wine and eating chocolate? Find out today in our Sirtfood Diet review.
What is the Sirtfood Diet?
The Sirtfood Diet is a weight loss program that relies on a type of proteins called “sirtuins”. These proteins are found in all living things and may mimic the effects of fasting and exercise by burning fat, increasing muscle, and staving off disease.
Sirtuin occurs naturally in a wide variety of foods we eat. We’ll start off with the two most noteworthy members of the Sirtfood Diet: red wine and chocolate. Other foods that are rich in sirtuins include kale, green tea, and apples.
By focusing on sirtuin-rich foods (called “Sirtfoods” by dieters), you may be able to stimulate the skinny genes that help you lose weight quickly – or at least, that’s the idea.
The diet was introduced in a book sold on Amazon at the start of January 2016. That book was created by Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten.
What Can You Eat on the Sirtfood Diet?
The most popular “sirtfoods” you can eat on this diet include:
— Green Tea
— Dark Chocolate
— Turmeric
— Kale
— Blueberries
— Parsley
— Capers
— Citrus Fruits
— Apples
— Red Wine
— Coffee
— Olive Oil
Certain countries in the world already consume high levels of sirtfoods – like Japan and Italy, both of which are ranked among the healthiest countries in the world.
How Much Weight Can You Expect to Lose?
Dieters can expect to lose 7 pounds in 7 days along with an increase in muscle mass and well-being.
Those results may sound extremely high to you, but they were the results of the average dieter in a study by Goggins and Matten’s.
Their research was published in The Sirtfood Diet book.
There’s one enormous problem with this weight loss study: in the study, 1,000 participants took just 1,000 calories per day for the first 3 days, then 1,500 for the remaining days. If you reduce your caloric intake to those levels while eating anything, you’re guaranteed to lose a few pounds.
In any case, don’t expect dramatic weight loss results while following this diet. But if you need some extra encouragement to get more fruits and vegetables into your diet, then the Sirtfood Diet might be the best option.
What Are Sirtuins, Anyway?
Sirtuins are a class of protein found in living things. They’re involved in the metabolic process. When sirtuins enter the body, they mimic the effects of fasting and exercise by burning fat, increasing muscle, and staving off disease.
By eating sirtuin-rich foods, you can increase sirtuins receptor activation within the body and enjoy the resulting nutritional benefits.
Celebrity Fans of the Sirtfood Diet
One of the major reasons why the Sirtfood Diet has been making headlines lately is its endorsement by James Haskell, Jodie Kidd, and Lorraine Pascale.
The TV chef calls the Sirtfood Diet a “non-faddy diet” that offers health benefits and weight loss results. Best of all, it doesn’t feel like dieting because you’re eating delicious food.
How Much Does the Sirtfood Diet Cost?
One of the complaints about the Sirtfood Diet is that its ingredients are fairly expensive.
One Amazon reviewer claims that she enjoyed great results from the diet, but also spent £200 ($290) USD) between two people, “but I don’t shop around so I guess it could be done more cheaply.” That reviewer also had to buy a smoothie maker and a juicer, although this wasn’t included in that cost.
How to Buy the Sirtfood Diet
The Sirtfood Diet book is available from Amazon.co.uk, where it’s priced at the following rates:
— Kindle Edition: £4.99
— Paperback: £2.99
Why is the paperback version cheaper than the eBook version? Don’t ask me.
The diet book itself was released on January 1, 2016 and contains 272 page of information about the diet, including recipes, study information, and an explanation of the benefits of the diet. It also includes a complete list of all the “sirt foods” recommended by the diet, as well as an explanation of how to best get those foods (although I’ve mentioned all of the major foods above).
What to Expect from the Sirtfood Diet
If you follow the sirtfood diet as you’re supposed to, you can expect to lose 7 pounds in a week. Of course, this also means severely restricting your caloric consumption (1000 calories per day for the first 3 days, then 1,500 calories per day thereafter).
However, the main benefit of the Sirtfood Diet is that you’re eating foods you enjoy eating. I mean, how many diets encourage you to drink red wine and coffee?
Some people won’t follow the Sirtfood Diet for its 7 day cleanse period: they’ll just start to incorporate more sirtfoods into their daily lives. In that case, you can still enjoy great benefits simply because you’re eating more fruits and vegetables while also loading your body with antioxidants.
