Seanol – Brown Algae Extract For Better Health

Seanol Review

Seanol is a trademarked nutritional formula typically found within a popular supplement called Marine D3 or Dr. Sinatra’s Seanol. Here’s our Seanol review.

What is Seanol?

Seanol is a nutritional formula that uses the active ingredient Ecklonia Cava to achieve various health benefits. That ingredient is a type of algae found naturally in the waters off the coastal regions of Asia.

The algae used in Seanol contains high levels of antioxidants as well as phytonutrients (plant-based nutrients) purported to provide enormous health benefits. That specific type of algae is harvested from the South Korean coast.

The formula is commonly found in a supplement called Marine D3 along with several other formulas like Dr. Sinatra’s Seanol. Some supplement makers sell a monthly supply of pure Seanol for as much as $150.

Other Seanol supplements, however, like some sold on Amazon.com, are priced at around $30 for a 30 day supply.

Does Seanol live up to its high price tag? Or is it just another nutritional supplement relying on buzz words and limited evidence? Let’s find out.

How Does Seanol Work?

Seanol claims to work using brown algae extract. Brown algae extract may sound gross, but it sounds less gross when you call it by its official taxonomical name, which is Ecklonia Cava.

That algae contains high levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients. By drying out the algae and condensing it down into a powder-based extract, Seanol claims to have maximized the nutritional benefits while minimizing the amount of filler.

What makes ocean-sourced antioxidants superior to land-based antioxidants? Well, according to some Seanol supplement manufacturers, ocean-based antioxidants are “100x more powerful than some of the strongest land-based antioxidants from fruits and vegetables.”

Basically, because ocean-based organisms are smaller, simpler organisms with fewer cells, they contain few “filler” compounds. Seanol promises to use this concept to benefit multiple parts of your body.

Benefits of Seanol

Seanol promises to use antioxidants to target free radicals throughout your body. Free radicals are sources of inflammation and are linked to an increased risk of developing various diseases.

Seanol specifically promises to benefit the following parts of your body:

— Heart
— Brain
— Eyes
— Liver
— Kidneys
— Bones
— And more

In addition to fighting disease in all of the above parts of your body, Seanol claims to provide cardiovascular benefits. The manufacturer of one Seanol supplement claims that Seanol “has a positive effect on SEVERAL areas of cardiovascular health”, including HDL and LDL cholesterol levels, triglycerides, blood pressure, circulation, oxidation, and inflammation.

How to Buy Seanol

Seanol is offered by a handful of different nutritional supplement manufacturers.

On Amazon, for example, you can find Dr. Sinatra’s Seanol with Antioxidant Rich Seaweed to Support Heart Health 60 Capsules (30 Day Supply) for $32.99.

That supplement is almost entirely made up of Seanol (brown seaweed extract). There are 720mg in each 2 capsule serving. The only other active ingredient is iodine (12mcg).

Most Seanol supplements are priced at a similar rate and include few other ingredients. They’re mostly made up of pure Seanol.

Who Makes Seanol?

Seanol is a registered trademark of a company called Simply Healthy, LLC.

Based in Lakewood, Washington, Simply Healthy LLC sells a small number of nutritional formulas. It doesn’t actually sell these formulas directly to the marketplace. Instead, it sells them to nutritional supplement manufacturers, who encapsulate the formula and sell it to consumers.

The formula’s trademark SN is 78442876.

Ultimately, Seanol is a type of brown algae extract purported to provide a variety of heart-healthy benefits. Although there is some scientific evidence supporting the use of brown algae, there’s limited direct evidence that Seanol can help you lose weight or contribute in a major way to better cardiovascular health.
