Your Best Face Defend

I was lucky enough to be asked to review Your Best Face Defend ($130 in the shop). This opportunity could not have come at a better time having just emerged from a long Wisconsin winter that usually takes a toll on my skin. I was beginning to see the 50-something skin sag around my mouth, which was discouraging as it had not been there the year prior. I needed to find something that would improve this condition and restore me to my former glory.

Defend has done more to improve my skin than I was initially hoping. It is a daytime serum that provides wrinkle prevention, balances oil and hydrates and tones. It claims to help combat sun damage, shine and onset of wrinkles. I was able to use it on my entire face, neck and hands followed by a light oil-free moisturizer. Defend absorbed immediately into my skin leaving a matte, slightly taut finish. It is not scented and it did not build up on my skin causing any annoying breakouts.

Defend contains an impressive list of natural active ingredients that protect your skin from damage that accumulates daily. Preventhelia tetrapeptide-33 is an antioxidant that fights the effects of UV radiation in skin. It protects against exposure to environmental factors that contribute to cell damage called photoaging, in which skin becomes drier and loses elasticity. Olive squalane is a botanical lipid derived from olives and promotes cell regeneration and oxidation, prevention of the formation of age spots, prevention of UV damage and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Juveleven Hexapeptide-51 is an active peptide that rejuvenates and aids in the significant improvement of cells to combat aging. Colhibin is a rice-derived peptide that works by inhibiting the damaging effect of UV radiation on collagen. It helps maintain skins integrity, protect against UV radiation and reduce inflammation.

There is also vitamin E succinate, an antioxidant superstar. Benefits include: enhances the effects of sunscreen, reduces the formation of free radicals from UV radiation, promotes healing processes, strengthens and protects the skin’s barrier function, and reduces water loss keeping the skin more hydrated. Glycyrrhiza glabra, better known as licorice extract, provides antioxidant protection, helps control oil production, calms and soothes acne-prone skin, brightens skin and reduces inflammation. Tatrahydodiferyloylmethane is known for its properties as a skin lightening agent, and a potent antioxidant from turmeric that blocks the production of melanin in the skin to assist in fading age spots. Spin trap is a highly advanced antioxidant that intercepts free radicals before they cause skin damage and can differentiate between good oxygen molecules and damaging ones.

My four-week experience of Your Best Face Defend has truly been a worthwhile endeavor. My biggest concer — mouth sag — has noticeably firmed, along with the back of my hands, and neck. My skin is brighter, more even toned, and feels incredibly soft. I have also noticed a significant reduction in my pore size on my face, which I was not expecting. The dark sunspots on my face have faded (although not completely gone), but I am hoping with continued use they will fade more.

The only drawback I experienced is Defend did not control my oily nose and chin, but I can live with that based on all the other benefits Defend provides. I love how bright and even toned my skin looks, and how soft it feels. I will definitely continue to use Your Best Face’s Defend, and I highly recommend it to others!
