Self Cut System – Perfect Professional Hair Grooming Kit?

Self Cut System Review – Worth Buying?

The Self Cut System is an at-home hair cutting system that promises to help you become your own best stylist. Can it really teach you how to give yourself a professional-looking haircut? Here’s our review.

What is the Self Cut System?

The Self Cut System is a hair cutting kit anyone can use at home. It’s designed for people with short hair who need to frequently touch up their hair to keep it looking great.

The system comes in several different varieties. You can purchase a set with trimmers for $300, or you can just purchase the company’s 3 way mirror and its haircut tutorial app, which is available for under $100.

The product calls itself an “investment”. After buying the Self Cut System, you’ll be able to save a significant amount of money on haircuts.

Basically, you get an app, razors, trimmers, and a mirror in one convenient kit. The app teaches you how to use everything to maximum effect, giving you the best haircut possible.

How Does the Self Cut System Work?

The Self Cut System consists of several different parts. First, there’s the Self Cut System 2.0 “Heaven Lights” system, which is a 3 way mirror with lights attached.

You also get a downloadable Self Cut System app for iPhone or Android. The app teaches you how to cut your hair in the latest styles while using modern hairstyling techniques.

There’s also a Self Cut System eBook that teaches you more information than found in just the app.

You can use all of the above information with your own hair cutters and trimmers. So if you already have your own hair cutting equipment – like a clipper and trimmer set – then you can still buy the Self Cut System.

If, however, you need to buy a clipper and trimmer, then the Self Cut System sells a clipper and trimmer set for $300 (bundled with the mirror and the app).

You can also pay $350 for an expanded hair trimming set, which includes a cordless clipper and trimmer as well as a variety of accessories – including the ability to cut your hair at different lengths.

The clippers and trimmers are made by Wahl, Andis, and other companies.

That discount will apply automatically when shipping to a military address. Or, you can contact customerservice@selfcutsystem.com from your military-issued email address after placing the order. If you don’t have a military email address, then you can forward other proof to that email address.

Is It Hard to Use the Self Cut System?

The Self Cut System promises to make cutting your own hair easy. Here’s how the manufacturer explains it:

“As long as you use the proper techniques and the right tools shown on the educational videos, the chances of you making a mistake are very small. Self-Style System makes it a lot easier for you to learn in giving yourself the perfect style.”

Basically, you setup the mirror, grab your trimmer and shaver, and follow along with the instructional videos, the app, or the eBook. The makers of the Self Cut System claim “anyone” can use their system.

When you first start styling your own hair, it will take a couple of tries to give yourself a perfect hairstyle. Depending on your skill level, it may take a few more tries. Once you know what you’re doing, however, you’ll be cutting your hair like a professional.

The mirror itself is portable and weighs 5.2 pounds. It folds up easily. The makers of the Self Cut System encourage you to take it on trips to make sure your hair is always looking good.

Who Makes the Self Cut System?

The Self Cut System is sold online by a New York company based at the following address:

72 N State Rd #242
Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510

You can contact the company by phone at 1-800-491-4980

Should You Use the Self Cut System to Cut Your Own hair?

The Self Cut System is an app, mirror, and trimmer/razor bundled together in a convenient package. However, you’re paying a significant premium for that package. Wahl razors and trimmers, for example, are very cheap: you can buy the Wahl Chrome 24 piece haircut kit from Amazon for $22.99. Most other Wahl products are available for under $30 – so you’re not getting some world-class trimmer when you buy the Self Cut System’s high-priced packages.

You can also purchase 3 way mirrors from any retailer. The makers of the Self Cut System describe their technology as “patent pending” – but let’s be honest, you can get a 3 way mirror from just about anywhere.

So the only unique thing about Self Cut System is the app and hair cutting guide. If you need extra help cutting your own hair, and want to learn the tips and tricks professionals use to style hair, then the app can be useful. However, considering you’re paying $80 to $350 for the app plus a few basic accessories, it’s a significant price to pay.

If you don’t mind the high price tag, then the Self Cut System may be your new favorite way to cut your own hair. However, those on a tighter budget will find that they can get similar results by buying the individual Wahl razors from Amazon, using their own mirror, and following along with free haircut guides on YouTube.
