LiftLab Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser, Detox Mask & Gentle Exfoliant

LiftLab Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser, Detox Mask & Gentle Exfoliant

Cleaning your face. Such a simple process that requires little thought, right? When my skin went crazy producing excess oil and acne in my teens, I thought the answer was scrubbing my face clean as many times a day as possible. What to use depended on who I talked to, with advice ranging from pine tar soaps to those made with sulfur and I tried them all (although the lingering sulfurous odor made that remedy short-lived). I mistakenly thought I needed to strip and dry out my skin as much as possible. Years later although acne was a thing of the past, my oily (sometimes congested) skin remained the same and so did my thought process: frequent washing with a strong cleanser will equal clear skin.  Now over time, I’ve learned better.

For the past month I’ve used the reformulated LiftLab Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser, Detox Mask & Gentle Exfoliant ($65 in the shop), and I do like the results. Sulfate free and containing botanicals including chamomile and aloe to calm and heal skin, it also has Olivem® 300, a natural olive oil derivative that is water-soluble and close to the skin’s own sebum to enrich and soften skin.  The two star ingredients are Cell Protection Proteins® (encourages cell turnover) and DermalRX®SRC (a resurfacing peptide) that set this cleanser apart from others by including anti-aging ingredients. This is formulated as a 3-in-1 product: a daily cleanser, detox mask and gentle exfoliant.

I found this worked great as my everyday cleanser. Morning and night I dispensed a pea-sized amount into my palms and rubbed them together into a foam and applied it to a wet face, massaging it on and then rinsing. Although it dispenses as a thick product from the tube, it rinsed without leaving any residue and thoroughly cleaned my skin without stripping it or leaving a dry, taut feeling. I also used this as a mask twice weekly and the process is the same as daily cleansing, except you leave it on for three minutes before rinsing for a deeper cleanse.

When I began the test I noticed a couple of small blackheads (yes, after 50 I still have oily skin and occasional clogged pores) that cleared up within the first week and my skin has remained clear during the test. Along with maintaining a clear complexion, I have also noticed my skin is a bit brighter with a more even tone. For me, this is an excellent cleanser (suitable for men and women) that performed beyond my expectation of cleaning my skin without stripping it by including anti-aging properties. Although it seems a bit pricey, the LiftLab website states the tube is an average 90 day supply and I found just a small amount does go a long way, so it may last even longer than the stated three months. This one is a keeper.
