What to Pack for the Last Beach Weekend of Summer

What to Pack for the Last Beach Weekend of Summer

Labor Day is fast approaching and we’re gearing up to celebrate the last big weekend of summer on the shore. Swimsuit, sunnies, chic floppy hat — check, check, check! All that’s left to consider are what products to bring along. When we think of beach beauty, we think natural skin and tousled hair — and obviously loads of sun protection — so we compiled a list of community-recommended products that will keep you polished and protected through the weekend.

Consider it your cheat sheet to packing. Clothing: optional.

MD Solar Sciences Mineral Tinted Crème SPF 30 ($32 in the shop)
Forget foundation this weekend! This lightweight, beige-tinted sunscreen blends beautifully into most skin tones for a radiant and even-toned complexion. Minerals zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays, while added antioxidants from green tea and pomegranate fight off free radical damage.

Soleil Toujours Mineral Based Sunscreen Continuous Mist SPF 50 ($36 in the shop)
Sunscreen sprays are easy to apply — and this is key — reapply on the beach. This milky mist goes on white, ensuring complete coverage, but rubs in easily and dries into a smooth, cast-free finish. Plus, its special EcoSun Complex, composed of vitamins, antioxidants and hydrators, provides and extra dose of protection and moisture to parched skin.

Deciem Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster ($32 in the shop)
The safest way to get that just-back-from-vacation glow: Fake it! This DHA-free formula utilizes Keto-sugar that reacts with skin to produce a natural-looking boost of color, while reactive glutathione helps fade sun spots and pigmentation for a clear and luminous complexion. Apply it once a day for three days for believable results.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pad for Body with Active Vitamin D ($45 in the shop)
The textured towelettes exfoliate and increase cell turnover with alpha and beta hydroxy acids, thus nixing unsightly bumps and body acne, while microencapsulated DHA and soy proteins provides a subtle sun-kissed glow. Sweep one over areas left exposed by your swimsuit for a beach body that’s smooth and radiant.

Sciote Solis Sun Recovery Face Serum ($69 in the shop)
A recent study from Yale University found that UV light continues to affect cells long after you come in from the sun. In fact, over half the damage inflicted is thought to occur hours after the initial exposure to sunlight. Smooth on this serum before bed to prevent damage from progressing. Its combination of sulfur, Japanese Green tea, milk thistle and Schisandra berry all work together to reduce skin irritation and redness, protect from free radicals and replenish the skin with rich vitamins to promote cellular repair.

La Vie Celeste Restorative Illuminating Toner ($35 in the shop)
The high concentration of aloe vera in this all-natural toner helps soothe while adding essential moisture after a long day on the shore. Not only does it hydrate and calm, but it also promotes skin repair with ingredients like resveratrol and bilberry. Store it in the fridge for a wonderfully cooling feel on contact.

Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Time Release Vitamin D Moisture Mist ($39 in the shop)
Stay cool with this refreshing spritz. The non-irritating mist uses alpine rose extract to increase skin’s resistance to environmental stressors and dryness while shiitake mushroom, a rich source of vitamin D, soothes irritation and flushing. A patented technology called Oleosomes prolongs the delivery of active moisture to the skin for lasting hydration and efficacy.

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray ($20 in the shop)
Work it through wet or dry strands to protect against the damaging effects of sun, salt water and chlorine. The milky spray uses nourishing conditioning agents such as argan, rosehip and coconut oils for deep moisturization without weight. It leaves hair soft and smooth, not greasy or heavy.

Pure Glam Waves Sea Spray ($26.99 in the shop)
This organic styling spray delivers tousled beachy waves and boosts volume with corn-based starch. It’s also infused with citrus oils and antioxidants to fight frizz and damage, too.

Ahnesti Hair & Scalp Refresher ($28 in the shop)
The secret to gorgeous vacation hair is a little dirty. Skip shampoo and work with your natural texture and grit instead. Spritz on this natural alternative to dry shampoo to freshen up; it uses 97 percent naturally-derived ingredients to remove excess oil and odor.
