At 46 years old, I have combination skin with pretty noticeable dark under eye circles. I have to wear some kind of concealer or CC cream every morning for my eyes to look rested, so I was really excited to try the Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir dark circle correcting concealer ($30). The idea of combining an eye treatment with concealer is a dream come true!
This concealer contains anti-inflammatory ginseng and alfalfa to depuff, as well as caffeine, which constricts blood vessels to reduce swelling and shadows. Night sleeper extract is known to increase blood circulation, thus brightening the skin, and Egyptian lupine extract is said to increase hydration. You’ll also find loads of antioxidants, like vitamin C and marapuama, in this formula.
When I first tried to squeeze the concealer from the tube, there was some separation of a clear liquid and the cream. Blending the two, I layered it over AQ skin solution serum and, since it does not have any SPF, I applied an eye cream with SPF over it. By mid-day, the concealer was creasing under my eyes. However, it did a good job of concealing my dark circles.
I decided to give it another try after not using it for a couple of weeks. To my surprise, when I squeezed the concealer out of the tube, there was no separation. I also decided not to layer the eye cream over it and used a smaller amount. This time around, there was no creasing. Using a small amount is key, and it shouldn’t be layered with heavier eye creams.
Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir is a great temporary fix to dark circles. It conceals shadows and brightens the eye area, but I haven’t noticed any long-term improvement yet. It would be even better if they included sunscreen.
