Hippocrates is said to have prescribed copper compounds to treat diseases in 400 B.C., but to this day scientists are still discovering how copper — a natural element of our bodies — functions. We do know that some of our enzymes (proteins) are copper-dependent, such as one for cellular energy and another that is responsible for cross-linking collagen and elastin. Copper peptides are also helpful for boosting hair growth and stronger strands (hence why it is the key active in my Truth Vitality Advanced Complex).
Copper peptides are one of my favorite anti-aging ingredients, but they are difficult and expensive to formulate with. My search for good skin care products with copper peptides has been painstaking (read slow) over the past years.
